How to Quickly Make an Automatic Hacksaw at Home

This hacksaw design is based on a 12 Volt DC motor, but this is not an ordinary DC motor, it is a Gerard high RPM motor that can rotate at 200 RPM. The second most important part of this tutorial is the draw slider.

The draw slider will allow the saw to move in line to be able to cut the materials like wood and soft metal. A conventional hacksaw is hand powered and mainly limited to the skill of the operator to quickly and efficiently cut a piece.

This design is good enough to cut softer materials like a PVC pipe provided it is secured well, so it does not move along the saw as the vibrations are going to reduce the efficiency of this hacksaw.

Most of the electric hacksaws are bulky and carry a lot of weight, but this low-power design is good for portability. It will easily get the job done if the target material is soft and you can handle hardwood with a tool like a table saw.
